Triangle Foundation of Arts for Development - TFAD
Triangle Foundation of Arts for Development currently deals with two projects which include; Mbikko Brass Band and The Triangle Centre of Music and the Arts. These two Centres offer a wide range of services to the community and the children as well as the Youths especially those from marginalized family backgrounds.
Mbikko Brass Band
The Band was started way back in 2001 by a Dutch Priest (Rev. Fr. Wijnand Huys) with a dream of restoring Peace and Unity amongst the people of Mbikko (a small surbub on the western side of Jinja town across River Nile.
The Band saw many musicians especially from the Netherlands come to volunteer in teaching music to the young boys. Such musicians include; Harry Walters, Petra walters, Jos Kuipers, Hannie Kruijt among others.
In 2008, the management of Mbikko Brass Band by the Dutch people came to an end and it was taken on by the local board members of the band carbinet. At that time, Fosca and Polycarp being some of the old Boys in the band were charged with the responsibility of running the band.
Currently, the Mbikko Brass band has a mixture of girls and boys from who are being helped to develop their talents on zero cost. However, the children are given less time to practice because of the fact that they can only practice for 1 hour every evening from 4 to 5.
It is because of this that TFAC is on the verge of looking for funds to secure a permanet residence for the Band where vulnerable children and youths will have ample time to practice and learn lots of things in Music.
